UC-06 · Credit-memo reversal
Credit a commissionable invoice, and the app automatically reverses the commission it earned. The reversal is an append-only offsetting entry. The original entry gets a flag — the app does not delete it.
Expected result: the app flags the original $500 entry Reversed and posts a new −$500 entry. The two net to $0.
Setup
Start from a posted invoice that produced a $500 Calculated commission entry (as in UC-01).
Post the credit memo
Create and post a sales credit memo that reverses that invoice. For example, use Copy Document from the posted invoice, or a corrective credit memo applied to it.
Result
| Entry | Commission Amount | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Original | 500.00 | Reversed (flagged) |
| Reversal | −500.00 | Reversed |
| Net | 0.00 |
The original entry’s amount does not change — the entry is only flagged Reversed. The offsetting entry carries the negative amount and cross-references the original.
Notes
- You can reverse a Paid entry. If the original was already Paid, it stays Paid and gets the flag. The reversal still posts, and the app writes a warning to the Activity Log. Finance can then reconcile the payment manually.
- Reversals are append-only. Like other commission entries, they post through the single journal gateway, and the full audit trail stays intact.
- Use Show Source Document on either entry to open the related posted document.
